Our Story

Hej! My name is Alfred, and I am the co-founder of SVEA.

I was born and raised in Kristianstad, a city in the southern Swedish region of Skåne, an area known for its rich agricultural heritage and deep connection to food. My mother owned a local restaurant and bar known for its traditional Swedish cooking and warm, welcoming atmosphere. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of spending time there, surrounded by good food, lively conversation, and a genuine sense of community.

Central Florida also held a special place in my life from an early age. For 12 consecutive years, my family and I traveled from Sweden to visit Orlando. Over time, I developed a deep affection for this country, for Florida, and especially for this part of the state. Central Florida is uniquely vibrant, rich in culture, filled with exciting destinations, and surrounded by remarkable natural beauty.

At 19, I moved to the United States to pursue my college education. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2023 with degrees in economics and political science before beginning a career in financial services.

During college, I also met my wife and SVEA co-founder, Maddy. Cooking and baking Scandinavian classics soon became one of our favorite things to do together. What began as a shared hobby gradually grew into something much bigger. I eventually left my career in corporate finance, and together, Maddy and I purchased a food truck with the goal of bringing an authentic Scandinavian kafé experience to Central Florida.

SVEA brings together so many meaningful parts of my life: the food and hospitality I grew up around in Sweden, the traditions Maddy and I have built together, and the Central Florida community I have loved since childhood.

It is a dream come true to share the flavors of Scandinavia and the warm, welcoming kafé experience I grew up with in a community that means so much to us.
