SVEA is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented, and food-loving Baking & Prep Assistant to help with prep and production at our kitchen in Longwood, FL.
This is a back-of-house role focused on supporting our food production behind the scenes, especially baking and pastry prep, while also assisting with sandwiches, packaging, cleaning, organization, and overall kitchen operations. You will work under the supervision of our Head Baker and help prepare the items that make the SVEA experience possible, including Scandinavian-inspired pastries, baked goods, sandwiches, and other menu items.
You may help with:
Assisting with baking and pastry production
Measuring, scaling, mixing, shaping, filling, baking, and finishing baked goods
Preparing sandwich ingredients and assembling sandwiches as needed
Packaging, labeling, and organizing food for truck service, pop-ups, and events
Following recipes, prep lists, food safety procedures, and production timelines
Keeping the kitchen clean and organized
Washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and helping with end-of-day cleaning
Assisting with prep for special events, catering, and seasonal menu items
Learning more about Scandinavian baking, food culture, and café-style production over time
This is a great fit for someone who is reliable, organized, careful, efficient, and genuinely interested in culinary art, baking, food and beverage, and Scandinavian culture. Baking, kitchen, restaurant, bakery, café, catering, or food prep experience is a plus, but not required. A strong work ethic, attention to detail, cleanliness, consistency, and a willingness to learn matter most.
SVEA is a small but growing business, so this role is best for someone who is comfortable working in a hands-on kitchen environment and is open to wearing different hats as needed. There is a lot of opportunity to learn, grow, become more independent, and be part of the early stages of a Scandinavian food and beverage company. For the right person, this role could grow into a more advanced baking or back-of-house leadership position over time.
Pay: Starting at $18/hour, with opportunities for raises as you grow with SVEA. Candidates with relevant baking, kitchen, or food production experience may be eligible for higher starting pay.
Schedule: Part-time and flexible. Hours may vary based on our production schedule, truck schedule, pop-ups, and events. Shifts are usually during the daytime.
Location: Team members report to our kitchen in Longwood, FL. Applicants must be able to transport themselves to the kitchen. A driver’s license is preferred.
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be reliable, punctual, and able to follow recipes, prep lists, and production protocols
Must be detail-oriented and comfortable with repetitive hands-on food prep
Must be willing to help with dishes, cleaning, restocking, and organization
Must have a genuine interest in food, baking, culinary art, or food and beverage
Must be open to learning and growing under the supervision of our Head Baker
Food handler training is required, but we can help the right candidate complete it
Resume is optional but encouraged
